Some notable labour law matters

  • Successfully  acting in the reviewing and setting aside an arbitration award for R27 million;


  • Successfully acting in the reviewing and setting aside an arbitration award of R6.3 million;


  • Advising an employer on the effects of termination of participation in the Alexander Forbes Retirement Fund and effect on employees fund benefits;


  • Investigating R25 million of financial misconduct of a Head of Department; of an organ of state in several construction projects;


  • Advising a Medical Aid on the outsourcing of an entire marketing division and all the implications from an employment law perspective;


  • Successfully defending an employer in an application where 20 Temporary staff sought to be deemed permanent;


  • Representing employer in an executive employee disciplinary hearing relating to projects around the 2010  FIFA World Cup
